The traditional landscape painting often contains a horizon line, recognizable landforms, and an idealized representation of Nature. Looking deeper, the historic use of the landscape mirrors the inner-state of that society's relationship to the political, religious, economic, and natural world around it. "Layered Place" invites viewers to reevaluate their definition of landscape, and consider the multiple "layers" of the multi-faceted modern landscape. This group exhibit delves into humanity's tumultuous relationship with Nature, visual metaphors for Place, social and cultural identity, family heritage, and way-finding.
The exhibition includes work by STL-based artists Jenna Bauer, Meghan Grubb, Song Park, Mandy Pedigo, Allana Ross, John Sarra, and Jon Young, and is curated by Charis Norell.
The exhibition will be up FEBRUARY 9 - APRIL 30

WE’RE BAAAAACK!!!
Much like the poltergeist from the feature film Poltergeist 2, in person events are back! Because scheduling is scary enough, Silver Space is here to help. Behold, our virtual baby - The Events Calendar - revived by popular demand. Here you can find out when the next gallery opening is, where you can hear free artist talks, and even what you missed out on because you didn’t check the calendar like you should have in the first place. Shame!
If you have an exhibition, event, artist talk, opening, or something tangentially associated, email marinam@silverspacestl.com and we’ll do our best to get you on!
