WE’RE BAAAAACK!!!

Much like the poltergeist from the feature film Poltergeist 2, in person events are back! Because scheduling is scary enough, Silver Space is here to help. Behold, our virtual baby - The Events Calendar - revived by popular demand. Here you can find out when the next gallery opening is, where you can hear free artist talks, and even what you missed out on because you didn’t check the calendar like you should have in the first place. Shame!

If you have an exhibition, event, artist talk, opening, or something tangentially associated, email marinam@silverspacestl.com and we’ll do our best to get you on!

Ann Ray & Lee McQueen: RENDEZ-VOUS

  • projects + exhibitions 4568 Manchester Avenue St. Louis, MO, 63110 United States (map)

Inaugurating Barrett Barrera Projects’ new gallery space—projects+exhibitions (4568 Manchester Avenue)—is Ann Ray & Lee McQueen: Rendez-Vous, which will be on view from Oct. 5, 2019 to Feb. 15, 2020.

Ann Ray & Lee McQueen: Rendez-Vous explores the thirteen-year friendship and intimate creative collaboration between the late British designer Lee Alexander McQueen and French photographer Ann Ray, who McQueen personally selected to document his design process and the behind-the-scenes experience of his runway shows.

“You know, it was simple. He was part of my life, we loved each other, I had rendez-vous,” said Ray. McQueen and Ray’s friendship began with a simple agreement in which money, business considerations and fashion had no place. “I like your images but I’m broke. Give me your photos, I’ll give you clothes,” Ray recalls McQueen expressing to her early in their relationship.

The exhibition features photographs taken by Ray, reflecting her unique relationship with McQueen between the years of 1997 and 2010, alongside garments McQueen gifted to her over the course of their work together. The exhibition will also feature over two dozen key McQueen pieces from Barrett Barrera Projects’ collection, the largest private collection of McQueen’s work.

This exhibition is a part of Innovations in Textiles 2019.

Open hours: Thursday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Admission is $5.
