WE’RE BAAAAACK!!!

Much like the poltergeist from the feature film Poltergeist 2, in person events are back! Because scheduling is scary enough, Silver Space is here to help. Behold, our virtual baby - The Events Calendar - revived by popular demand. Here you can find out when the next gallery opening is, where you can hear free artist talks, and even what you missed out on because you didn’t check the calendar like you should have in the first place. Shame!

If you have an exhibition, event, artist talk, opening, or something tangentially associated, email marinam@silverspacestl.com and we’ll do our best to get you on!

ALINGERING NOTE: in-person gatherings during covid

During these Quarantimes, we wish everyone the best health and happiness. We are proud to support local galleries, museums, and businesses who are working tirelessly to provide you enjoyable experiences and services. With that being said, we encourage everyone to take proper precautions and mindfulness when spending time in public spaces.

Be sure to visit each venue’s website for information on their COVID-19
business hours, guidelines, and mask policies.

If you are still unsure how to protect yourself and others, please visit the World Health Organization's website for more advice and updates on the COVID-19 outbreak.

Attention to Detail opening reception

Join Art Saint Louis on Saturday, January 12, 5-7 p.m. for a free reception for our first exhibit of 2019, "Attention to Detail." This exhibit will run through February 13, 2019.

“Attention to Detail” is a all media juried visual art exhibition that will feature artworks that are predominately defined by the details of their composition: Artworks that are either marked by a density of detail or intricacy, or by details presented in isolation or contrast to surrounding elements—all works where significance, meaning or impact is achieved principally in or through detail.

Learn more about the exhibit on our website here: https://www.artstlouis.org/index.php/exhibition-schedule/up-next-in-the-gallery/attention-to-detail

This exhibit is juried by St. Louis artists Marie Oberkirsch and M. Shawn Cornell. M. Shawn Cornell is an award-winning plein air painter whose works have been exhibited nationally in gallery exhibitions as well as in plein air festivals and art fairs. In addition to painting, he is ceramic artist and printmaker. Prior to becoming a full-time artist, Shawn worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for 20 years. He is also co-owner of OA Gallery, Kirkwood, MO. Artist Marie Oberkirsch is Director, Central Print, a St. Louis-based nonprofit organization founded in 2015 that focuses on letterpress printmaking through workshops, classes & programs that focus on design and production using historic equipment. Marie holds a BFA in Textile Design from the University of Kansas and an MFA in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her understanding of pattern, printing, and weaving, combined with a passion for artifacts, led to an affinity for letterpress printmaking. She has an extensive background in non-profit arts and event management.
