Plaid Progress brings together artists based in St. Louis and other cities in the mid-west, strengthening artist ties in the region, while championing the work happening outside of and on par with the dominant coastal cities. Plaid Progress arose as a phrase in reference to a lateral notion of moving forward, thinking of culture forming as plaid patterns are woven, with intersecting colors and varying widths of warp and weft, producing durable fabric. Collectively the artists deal with a dynamic mix of place, identity, cultural objects, intimacy, language, and overlooked histories.
The exhibition is curated by Lyndon Barrois Jr., and will be accompanied by a catalog with written contributions from Barrois Jr., and Lynnette Miranda.
There will be drinks, light refreshments and a curator's talk at 7:00.
- The exhibition will remain up through July 21st -

WE’RE BAAAAACK!!!
Much like the poltergeist from the feature film Poltergeist 2, in person events are back! Because scheduling is scary enough, Silver Space is here to help. Behold, our virtual baby - The Events Calendar - revived by popular demand. Here you can find out when the next gallery opening is, where you can hear free artist talks, and even what you missed out on because you didn’t check the calendar like you should have in the first place. Shame!
If you have an exhibition, event, artist talk, opening, or something tangentially associated, email marinam@silverspacestl.com and we’ll do our best to get you on!
