who we are

Silver Space is an online editorial platform dedicated to covering the artists, curators, exhibitions, and institutions of St. Louis and beyond. Our mission is to amplify artists of all disciplines, to connect their work with a wider audience, and to record the current cultural moment through a variety of mediums. We aim to develop an inclusive, generative community backed by resources like critiques, digital meetups, and on-site representation. Silver Space is committed to providing interesting and engaging content that’s always accessible.

Five years ago, we noticed a void. There was so much happening around us and no singular space to record it. We found ourselves shuttling from event to event, from show to show, meeting with interesting, funny, talented, people. From the artists, to the curators, to patrons of the arts, we were continually learning new things from their work and their practices at large. Ultimately we felt called to aggregate and consolidate our experiences so others could access them. We developed an events calendar (honestly, so we could remember what was happening), began writing essays (because we were moved to), and eventually started a practice of interviewing artists (because their voices couldn't be distilled).

We firmly believe in the power of art to access something visceral in our collective consciousness, but you shouldn't need a doctoral degree to feel comfortable engaging with it. What came of Silver Space is an evolving entity. As Silver Space expands our content, from publishing to podcasting, we grow too. We are what we need to be to support the community and are committed to evolving with the artistic and cultural landscape of St. Louis, and beyond
