Behold, our virtual baby - The Events Calendar - revived by popular demand. Here you can find out when the next gallery opening is, where you can hear free artist talks, and even what you missed out on because you didn’t check the calendar like you should have in the first place. Shame!

If you have an exhibition, event, artist talk, opening, or something tangentially associated, email marinam@silverspacestl.com and we’ll do our best to get you on!

ARTIST EDO ROSENBLITH MURAL OPENS AT THE FOUNDRY ART CENTRE

  • The Foundry St. Charles (map)

The Foundry Art Centre is pleased to announce the unveiling of Four Women for Three Seasons, a three-part mural by St. Louis artist Edo Rosenblith. This site-specific painting will be a major focal point in the space throughout the year.

Asked to create a mural for the Foundry’s Grand Hall, Edo drew inspiration from the seasons and a wide variety of art historical and popular culture references – everything from Baroque paintings to Japanese woodblock prints, the hair in The Bride of Frankenstein to a scene in Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories, Vess Cola, and punk rock fashion. “The Foundry’s unique architecture with an abundance of natural light provides an ideal environment for this year-long, site-specific installation,” said Edo.

“The Foundry’s staff is excited to see Edo’s mural installed in the Grand Hall. In addition to showcasing a one-of-a-kind artwork by an internationally exhibited artist, the Grand Hall Mural Project was created to support local artists,” explained Sean FitzGibbons, the Foundry Art Centre’s Executive Director. “Our community has world-class artists right in our backyard. As an art institution, the Foundry is focused on supporting local and regional small business owners.”

The Grand Hall Mural Project is new exhibition program for the Foundry Art Centre featuring original, commissioned work by professional artists. A new triptych will be commissioned each year to engage and inspire the community and support regional artists.

Rosenblith is a St. Louis-based, Israel-born artist who received his MFA in Visual Art from Washington University. He has exhibited at many notable institutions including the Contemporary Art Museum of St. Louis, Ortega y Gasset Projects in Brooklyn, Elmhurst Museum in Chicago, and the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art in Bremen, Germany. His illustrations have been published in the chapbook What Dorothea Did, and PINK, published by Fort Gondo Press.

A socially distanced opening reception for Four Women for Three Seasons is scheduled for Friday, March 26th, from 5-7. For more information, please visit us at foundryartcentre.org or email Jessica Mannisi, Art & Exhibitions Coordinator, at jmannisi@foundryartcentre.org.
