WE’RE BAAAAACK!!!

Much like the poltergeist from the feature film Poltergeist 2, in person events are back! Because scheduling is scary enough, Silver Space is here to help. Behold, our virtual baby - The Events Calendar - revived by popular demand. Here you can find out when the next gallery opening is, where you can hear free artist talks, and even what you missed out on because you didn’t check the calendar like you should have in the first place. Shame!

If you have an exhibition, event, artist talk, opening, or something tangentially associated, email marinam@silverspacestl.com and we’ll do our best to get you on!

ALINGERING NOTE: in-person gatherings during covid

We are proud to support local galleries, museums, and businesses who are working tirelessly to provide you enjoyable experiences and services. With that being said, we encourage everyone to take proper precautions and mindfulness when spending time in public spaces.

Project Space: ‘SLIME’ featuring Nick Schleicher

  • Monaco 2701 Cherokee Street St. Louis, MO, 63118 United States (map)

St. Louis, MO — Monaco is pleased to present SLIME featuring Nick Schleicher. The exhibition opens on Friday, January 3 and runs through Friday, January 31.

SLIME presents a survey of iridescent, hyper saturated, color field paintings and sculptures from Nick Schleicher’s recent exploration into his personal sense of aesthetic and display. Included in the exhibition are several paintings hung traditionally as well as three painted shelves on which additional paintings sit. The shelving units transcend their utilitarian function and challenge the concept of “display,” as Schleicher experiments with the potential of paintings as objects and vice versa.

SLIME references both the slang meaning a friend or someone close to you, as well as being an incredibly potent nostalgic matter from Schleicher’s personal experiences, re: Nickelodeon, vacations, cartoons, tiki drinks, and Young Thug, among others. This body of work pulls heavily from Schleicher's formative creative years, specifically the 90's, to define his color palette and title his works.
