Welcome to cool WIP!

The site formerly known as silverspacestl.com is now

coolwipofficial.comofficially.

It’s been a long time coming…. We finally transitioned silver space to cool WIP, but in doing so, we have kept the history of what we were and where we’ve been. After all, the whole point of starting silver space nearly a decade ago was to keep a record of contemporary art in St. Louis (and eventually beyond).

You can find the complete archive of essays, interviews, and content in the silver space archives tab at the top.

Silver space started as an arts editorial platform which progressed naturally into cool WIP the podcast. The site filled many of the voids within the community and was run by a volunteer team who managed an arts and events calendar, wrote analytical content, conducted interviews, provided commission opportunities for artists, and more. The new coolwipofficial.com will now encompass what we can — so here’s what to expect and how you can keep up:

Follow us on instagram @coolwip_official to find out when new episodes will drop but also for our day-to-day content ie. the show’s we’re seeing and work we’re enjoying.

Check the coolwipofficial site for each episode page featuring images and context from the episode, the artist’s social links, current exhibition information, and a embedded Spotify player. SO EASY TO SEND TO YOUR FRIENDS RIGHT?

You didn’t hear it from me, but there’s a rumor that we might start editorial content again, but that’s TBD.

In summation, thanks for coolin with silver space for almost ten years — and welcome to cool WIP.

cool WIP episode 32: coolin with Emily Mueller

Granny getchur square because we’re makin paaaaaper with practicing artist Emily Mueller!

We’re talkin’ sad girls, couture crochet, Ferris Bueller vs. Risky Business, the catch-22 of the female gaze, meditation, avocado egg-tempura, big sweaters, elbow length gloves, summersaults, reacting to critique, and how shifting mediums altered Mueller’s relationship with making — ultimately leading to a deftly disguised practice that navigates the complexities of the body, mark making, image making, and language.
